I am so excited to be writing to you today because this means our business is a reality. I am the half that loves to scrapbook and share all my family’s memories. I also love vintage art, images, colors and the simplicity of the past. Our theme right now is one of my favorite holidays of the year. HALLOWEEN! I love to help the kids get dressed up, bundled up and get out the door with Dad, to go trick-or-treating. I also enjoy when they come home to show me all the treats they got. Every year, they dump their goodies out and divide them into “like” candies and then they swap for their favorites. It’s like watching “negotiating 101”.
It is always fun to think back to when you were a kid. What was your favorite candy when you were a kid? Mine has always been Snickers, until about three years ago, but I’m pretty good with anything that has chocolate and peanuts. With our kits and products, we hope to bring back many happy memories for you to reminisce about or share with your kids. Scrapbooking is a perfect way to get these memories showcased for your family and friends.
Now for a fun vintage fact about Halloween candy. Did you know that candy was not given out to trick-or-treaters until the early 1950’s? Before candy, they gave out nuts, coins, fruit and sometimes small toys. Candy was more popular at Christmas and Easter in those times. The first individually wrapped candy that was handed out were….Tootsie Rolls. Other popular candies were M&M coated chocolates – 1/2 lb. went for $.30, Baby Ruth, Butterfinger and Tootsie Rolls – $.02/each. Those were the days.
I hope your Halloween is safe, fun and full of your favorite candies and activities. Don’t forget your pillow case. Happy Halloween!!
