memory keeper…

I have long been a fan of shadow boxes.  The idea of keeping a memory on display in a beautiful way, makes home decorating even more meaningful.  We were challenged this month to use a beautiful shadow box frame sent to us in conjunction with some products from Vintage Street Market.  I chose to use the Dimestore Vogue collection as it fits in perfectly with my craft space.

I painted my frame with celery acrylic paint, then a light coating of antique white, and then distressed it with distress ink.  I love the shabby, pale blue it turned out to be.

I used Dimestore Vogue paper as my background topped by a vintage Bingo card, doily, and then a Dimestore Vogue die cut layered with coordinating paper and vintage buttons.  This project made me take a look at the things I have on hand…things I love and treasure as some have memories attached…and then incorporate them into my decor to surround myself with my favorite bits and bobs of history.

Thanks for visiting.

  5. this is one of the best I have seen on the internet. I’m attempting to do one for my godson (and failing) and would just love to know how you distressed the frame like this. I have seen distress ink in a sort of pad at my craft store..did you pick a particular colour and sponge it on? Thank you so much, I love the little spools! xox
