Learning to Sew

One of the things I love about the Vintage Street Market kits is that you have everything you need to create a great layout right there in the package(ok, except adhesive), but seriously, the only extra items I added that weren’t in the kit was a couple pieces of fabric, a button, and the aged tape.  Oh, and don’t let me get started on that fabulous tape(VSM).  There are several styles to choose from.  For this layout I used the “aged” style to adhere my photo.  I cut out the two ladies and popped them up with Scrapbook Adhesives foam squares.  For the flower, I used the side of paper that looks like a sewing pattern and cut out some flower shapes with a die.  And for my daughter Jordans adventures in sewing, this was pretty much it.  I had hoped she would do more, but at least she knows how to hem something.

For my next project I made a fun little Birthday card using the Party Games kit:

Isn’t that monkey just stinkin’ cute? I used a piece of red cardstock for the background and cut a piece of the paper with the monkey on it to fit as the background.  I cut out the banner image and popped it up with more foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives.  I punched out the image with the lollipops and layered the diamond that says happy over that.  The little ticket is also from the punch out sheet.  I added a few pieces of birthday ribbon and some stickles here and there and voila, a cute and cheery little birthday card.

Thanks for looking, and don’t forget to take a peek and some of the previous blog posts to see the new 2011 releases!
