Remember these red mesh stockings? I’d remember seeing them hanging up at Eckerd drug store when I was a little girl. They were filled with candies and inexpensive toys. This was one of the first signs I would see that would alert me that Christmas was just around the corner.
Why not bring them back, and make them one of your Christmas traditions? But, dress them up a bit more… Retro stockings are now in the shop, and look great when embellished with vintage!
These stocking toppers were made using pieces from the Victorian and Retro Christmas kits, along with the vintage Firestone songbook. I simply layered the sheet music onto solid colored cardstock and embellished with ribbons, vintage crepe and retro images.
I loved tying in all of the fun “vintagey” elements into the tulle. Adds so much texture and volume!
So, here are some ideas that would be perfect for your crafted mesh stockings:
1) Fill with muffins, cookies, or candies and give to the neighbors, hostess gifts or teacher appreciation.
2)fill with shredded paper, and “bury” a smaller gift inside.
3)fill, and hang from the doorknob of your guest bedroom. Your guests will love the surprise, and it will make them feel extra special.
4)fill with treats/presents and hang from the back of the dining room chair. Could you imagine how festive it would look with a stocking hanging from every chair? It would certainly be a memorable Christmas dinner!
The best part is, these do not take long to make at all! Get started, and let us know what you’ll fill your stockings with!
