“Brown paper packages tied up with string….”

“….these are a few of my FAVORITE things…”

I can’t speak for Julie Andrews’ character in the Sound of Music, but Twirly Twine  and Vintage Sandwich Bags and Vintage Freezer Boxes are certainly a few of MY favorite things!

These vintage sandwich bags and papers from the Vintage Ephemera Assortment create a very unique, very vintage, form of gift wrap…a gift envelope that can be used again. This is perfect packaging to fill with vintage crafting materials (buttons, paper ephemera, and ribbons) for a special “crafty” friend.

To create this envelope, I used 2 vintage, wax sandwich bags, Red Twirly Twine, vintage papers and a dress image from the Family Fun Accessory Kit.

1) To begin, insert the bags inside each other. The bags are gusseted, so this is super easy to do, and they fit perfectly!

2) Next, size the papers (cut down if necessary) and insert them into the front and back of the envelope. I decorated the vintage dictionary page with a Family Fun paper doll dress before sliding it in. The center of the bag will be empty. The papers are simply slipped in between each bag.

Once inserted, stitch the sides and bottom of the envelope to attach the bags together. Fold over the top and punch holes in the center. The stitching holds the papers in place.

3) Thread a double strand of Twirly Twine into the punched holes and tie a bow (once the gift envelope is filled with LOTS of vintage treats of course). This is the back view. I just love this very vintage receipt. The wax bag really adds an amazing texture when layered on top of the vintage papers.

And, onto those “Brown paper packages..”

These vintage freezer storage boxes make the most unique, and also very vintage, gift box. The basic verbage on the box,  contrasts beautifully when dressed up with the cupcake image from Party Games Paper Sheets & Tags, Bingo Craft Cards and of course, the “string”-Pink Twirly Twine. Vintage pink crepe from the Pink Ribbon Card adds a sweet ruffle. (eeek! pardon the smudged glitter) 🙂

These little tickets are included in each Twirly Twine package and coordinate perfectly with the twine. Definitely, a “sweet” touch.

So, if you’re tired of the same store-bought gift bag, remember these vintage examples and think “out of the bag!”  Make your gift stand out!
