Hello, Vintage Lovers! Shellye here with a couple of Mom & Pop themed projects. With Mother and Father’s Days coming up soon, I felt inspired to get a couple of those gifting items completed
First up: For Mom
I created this collage art piece using two 4×4 canvas blocks that I glued together with a strong tack adhesive. For the base, I used a vintage instruction sheet from a pattern pack, and applied with Mod Podge. I painted the sides of the canvas with an acrylic paint and then wrapped a piece of vintage seam tape around it and tied into a bow at the top.
Next, using acrylic paint and template, I sponged on a little paint to give a distressed look. I also added rubons around the border, a bit of paper doily, punch out tags from the Dimestore Vogue Collection and sticker sentiments and then covered with Mod Podge. I then spritzed on a bit of walnut ink over the entire surface. After allowing to dry, I began adding my other accents such as the Dimestore Vogue Collection punch-out lady, butterflies that I punched from the punch out sheet of Dimestore Vogue, vintage buttons and flat-back pearl embellishments.
Finally, using a glue pen, I applied a border of Aqua Twirly Twine around the edge of both canvases (continuously). A vintage crochet flower and tag were added to the top.
Next Up: For Dad
Oh my Daddy is my biggest fan, so I love making stuff with him in mind Every card that I’ve made for my parents sit all lined up on a buffet in my mother’s kitchen. I love the Family Fun Set Paper Kit…it’s the perfect backdrop for so many nostalgic memories. This particular paper (Distinguished Dad) with the old car reminds me of a photo taken of my dad, along with his parents and siblings, in front of their early 1950′s family car
For the base, I used “Captain Johnny” patterned paper (from Family Fun) and layered the top with a coordinating sheet of cardstock to act as a mat for the “car” paper. Of course, I added a little distress ink to the edges and machine stitched the pieces together. After doing so, I applied a strip of the Numbers Tinted Tape (my FAV of the tinted tapes!) and machine stitched around it…just to lend some additional interest I hand-cut the “Father” bottle cap motif and small square photo of father from the Family Fun Envelope Sheet and Distinguished Dad paper. The ‘happy’ tag from the Party Games Collection was placed at the bottom. Vintage inspired sticker letters spells out “you’re a classic”. A bit of twine and buttons completed the card front!
Thanks for stopping by today…I hope you’ve enjoyed the projects
