Vintage Sweets

Hello, everyone!

Julie here again with a bit of sweet vintage–and some sweets–to share with you today!

I love the Kitsch Kitchen pieces available from Vintage Street Market–so much to inspire!  I found it so VERY easy to put together this scrapbook page of my grandmother, Velda {beautiful pictured in the 1940s} and her famous English Toffee recipe.

{love the look the “Linen” Tinted Tape gives the corners of the photo–just the perfect touch!}

I remember her little grocery lists neatly written out and waiting on her kitchen table–just ready for her next trip to the store…

And here’s Velda’s recipe–a staple in our family at Christmas time.  The holidays just wouldn’t be the same without delicious vintage plaid tins of the stuff all over the counters!

Velda’s English Toffee

1/2 lb. butter                              chocolate chips

1 cup sugar                                  chopped pecans

2 Tbsp. water                              pinch of salt

Put in heavy saucepan.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with wooden spoon until light golden brown.  Pour into buttered 9″ square pan.

Immediately sprinkle 3/4 package of chocolate chips over top.  Let melt a minute and smooth with spatula.  Then, sprinkle with chopped pecans–almost a cup.  Pat lightly to set nuts in chocolate.

When cool, break into pieces with point of a sharp knife.

This one isn’t sugary sweet, but sweet & feminine–a perfect card for a friend.  There’s something so charming to me about these wonderful vintage ruler prints for trims–as you can see, I’ve used them on both my pieces today–I just love them!

Little bits of this & that…a pretty pink paper rose, lovely crystal-topped pins, a perfect scrap or two of paper left over from other projects–can’t let anything go to waste!  Twine & buttons, ribbons & bows–so much fun to put together!

“Made just for you”, it says…nothing more to say…

So glad you stopped by today!  Wishing you lots of inspiration & happy creating!
