Girly Things & Tomboys

Good Monday to you!  Shellye with you to share a layout and quick card that I made for today.

My daughter is not necessarily the epitome of a “tomboy” but she comes pretty close.  If it weren’t for the nail polish, rhinestone belts and bows in her hair, one would think she was a certified tomboy!  In this photo, I caught here climbing a ladder while helping her dad add lights to one of the trees.

I started with a black sheet of cardstock from my stash and built it up with layers of patterned papers and borders from the Family Fun Paper Kit.  I cut the borders apart so that I could layer in between each one with foam dots.

Something that I’ve been doing lately is typing out my own journaling with my computer and printer.  First, I make a copy on plain copy paper and then line up whatever cardstock or patterned paper that I’m going to use over that.  Then I just run the paper back through the printer and it’s perfectly set to go on my page!

In finishing, I embellished with a few velvet flowers, old buttons and ribbon from my stash.  I  love that the layout is brightly fun, yet feminine too, just like my Syd 🙂

For the card I needed something quick, quick, quick to give a friend!  Just a little ‘pick me up’ that she was needing at the time 😉

I set out to match a cardstock to the pink in the ‘ruler’ paper, as well as the doily that I was wanting to use.  From there I layered with “Beauty has many faces” patterned paper from the Family Fun Paper Kit.  I then cut out the lady, ‘friends’ button and ‘ruler’ paper from the Dimestore Vogue Paper Sheets & Tags Collection and attached them.

And again, I used my computer and printer to create a little sentiment that I added to the side, along with a couple of buttons and old crochet thread.  That’s it…I was done!

This will be my last post for Vintage Street Market for 2012, so I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a blessed New Year!  See you all soon.
