I hope your week is off to a great start, and that your summer is going well. Its hard to believe that in a few short weeks, the kiddos go back to school. The school supplies are already purchased and ready to go. Yikes! 🙂
This project has been so fun to put together. Paper dolls have ALWAYS been one of my favorite things, and I so enjoy creating new things with them. Depending on the doll, the project can be either playfully sweet or movie star sophisticated.
Wooden canvases have really come onto the crafting scene in a big way. Truly a great canvas to work with! And wooden blocks are simply an extension of that concept. To create these paper doll blocks, I first started by painting the block, then distressing the edges with sandpaper. A wash of ivory paint also helped tone down and added more depth to the block colors.
Once the paint was dry, I added vintage book paper with Mod Podge, then applied the paper doll. A few ribbons and fabric scraps, and a couple crowns (of course) dress them up nicely!
These sweet paper doll blocks can be personalized even further with memo pins holding descriptive adjectives and embellishments. A fun gift idea for a good friend! 🙂
I hope you have a great week! And, if you’re looking for a crafting idea, try embellishing a block – so much fun!
