With Love…

Along with love, flowers, chocolates, and all those wonderful joys that festive February brings…it always brings out the desire in me to create with vintage supplies.  Vintage doilies, sewing patterns, foil, cupcake liners, & postcards top my crafty list this month…what about you?

Up first this month, a retro-vibe card…Hooray! (for love, that is):

I love to accent with black for Valentine’s Day, and this go-to polka-dot paper from Family Fun, along with the Tinted Tape in Soot, & black twill, are just the ticket.

Word bubbles are all the rage these days, so I made one here with some vellum, and a sentiment & image from Party Games & Dimestore Vogue.

Love notes & treats are essentials for my kids this month, so I made this heart-pouch filled with treats, to hang on the doorknob when they return home from school on Valentine’s Day:

For this candy-themed project, I used some great paper & trims from the Sewing Room section of the VSM store, along with foil & imagery from the Party Games collection.

May your February be filled with sweetness!

January Pastels @ Vintage Street Market

Happy 2013 to all!

Keri here, sharing some pastel-inspired projects for January.  For me, this January I’m inspired by soft pastels, icy blues, pale pinks, not to mention the gorgeous Winter Garden kit now available in the VSM store…how lovely is that subtle palette?!  Love it.

For my layout, I highlighted the pastels from the Sewing Room collection, as well as Dimestore Vogue:

Lots of angles & layers on this one…soft & sweet & reminiscent to me of those baby days a decade ago, when this photo was taken.

Next up, a card made with one of my favorite images from the Family Fun paper collection:

I embossed the aqua foil, and made a quick scallop flower from the brown crepe…definitely two of my go-to favorite products that Vintage Street Market offers.

I hope the New Year is treating you kindly, and that you are inspired & motivated to create something new of your own this month!

Holiday Happiness…

The holidays are definitely a high point for me…watching my daughters soak in every detail of the festivities of the season…love it all!

Here is a layout of my mother’s gifts back in 1965…love how she so carefully set all her presents up outside to photograph. And love that I can see her “shadow” in the foreground as she captures the shot:

Using my ever-favorite polka-dot paper from the Family Fun collection, I added my own sequins, made from red foil and a couple of hole punches.  I added gorgeous tidbits, like this glitter-filled glassine envelope & pins, from the Sewing Room section of the VSM store.

My 2nd project for the month is a gingerbread-house card:

Using a Bingo Card, brown crepe, glitter, twirly twine, I whipped up this scrumptious holiday greeting.

I don’t know about you, but the holidays is definitely one of my favorite times to enjoy the nostalgic feeling of vintage ornaments and decor.  My kids and I love to discover “new” favorite items like this to add to our holiday home:

Wishing you a happy holiday and a delightful December!

So Thankful…

This time of year, my thoughts are often centered around all that I’m thankful for in my life…from family to this crafting hobby of mine!

First up this month, is a decor-piece I made, using one of these cool vintage Mason Jar Lids as a base!

If you’ll notice, I also utilized the vintage clothespins from my Dad, which I mentioned HERE.  After gluing the pins onto the jar base, I tied it with some hemp & Twirly Twine.

Layered Bingo Cards, and diecuts from the Family Fun collection, created the center focus of the piece.

I dressed the paper dolls, and tucked them into the doily pocket.  This way they can be taken out and played with, then returned to their spot.  A fun little addition to our November decor, that brings out the Family Gratitude focus during this month of Thanksgiving.

Lastly, a “Thankful For You Daily” card:

I used some gorgeous papers, accents, and ephemera from the Kitsch Kitchen section of the VSM store.

I created the card sentiment using both Twirly Twine tickets, as well as words cut out from THIS versatile paper.

This Days-of-the-Week ephemera sheet was the perfect complement to my Thankful Daily theme…I added subtle layering with a bingo card and Linen Tinted Tape…my favorite!

Wishing you all a month full of thankful thoughts &, as always, lots of crafting!

Happy Haunting…

Halloween is one of my kids’ favorite times of the year…lucky for me, they enjoy the cutesy/vintage style for this holiday just like I do!

For our Spooky Party invites this year, here’s what I created:

Here’s a bit about some of the details here…I created the little mask for the Family Fun paper doll by layered Tinted Tape over plain cardstock, then cutting out a little mask shape, using a small hole punch for the eyes.

Second, a fun crepe paper technique.  I punch a small circle from the polka-dot paper, then put a small square of the crepe paper behind it loosely.  Using the cap of a marker, I pushed the crepe paper through the punched circle to create a cool little 3D effect.  I finished off the little circles with a little wrap of Twirly Twine around each.

Happy Haunting!
