A Thank You Vintage Style

1 Comment | Leave a new comment

Hello there!  Amy here checking in again with a card featuring ephemera.  Our store offers many vintage items that you can find here.

My card combines new with old for a fresh thank you for someone dear.  All supplies are listed at bottom of post.

I made a banner with aqua twirly twine and then added lots of fun items for a layered effect.  I created the blue gingham pennant using the paper sheet from Sewing Room Kit.  I added a flashcard, punched the heart from vintage paper and added a bingo marker, cut a piece of film, layered some tickets,  and then embellished with a charm hanging from a garmet pin.

Thanks for looking and hope you are inspired. 🙂

Hearts on my mind

Happy February to you!   I know Valentine’s Day was a few days ago, but I am still in the heart mood so today’s projects have a heart on them.

I started with a mini album.  I die cut a large scallop heart from chipboard and covered with pattern paper.  I painted and inked the edges for a distressed look.  I turned the heart upside down  and scored the point of the heart to make into an album.

For the front, I cut an oval in the glassine bag and then added a manila tag to tuck inside.  I punched a heart from the stripe print and added the vintage dictionary paper behind it.  I then inked a small bingo card and cut a sentiment from the pattern paper for the top.  The tiny heart in the center is the red foil from the Party Games that I punched out.  I added a button with Twirly Twine and a few rhinestones to complete.

I added six pages inside using the “Stack the Deck” technique.  I added Velcro tabs to secure the album.

For the pages, I added various pattern papers listed below along with a fabric scraps.  I continued the tiny sentiment theme inside on each page.  I also added Soot Tinted Tape on many of the pages.

For the inside cover, I painted, distressed, and stamped a heart.  I outlined the hearts with black marker.

Next I made a card.  I stitched many layers together to create this.  I punched a heart from the bingo card and layered a pattern print behind.  I layered with a decorative button tied with Twirly Twine and accented with a red pearl.  I cut the tiny sentiment from the pattern paper and added to a journal tab.

With Love…

Along with love, flowers, chocolates, and all those wonderful joys that festive February brings…it always brings out the desire in me to create with vintage supplies.  Vintage doilies, sewing patterns, foil, cupcake liners, & postcards top my crafty list this month…what about you?

Up first this month, a retro-vibe card…Hooray! (for love, that is):

I love to accent with black for Valentine’s Day, and this go-to polka-dot paper from Family Fun, along with the Tinted Tape in Soot, & black twill, are just the ticket.

Word bubbles are all the rage these days, so I made one here with some vellum, and a sentiment & image from Party Games & Dimestore Vogue.

Love notes & treats are essentials for my kids this month, so I made this heart-pouch filled with treats, to hang on the doorknob when they return home from school on Valentine’s Day:

For this candy-themed project, I used some great paper & trims from the Sewing Room section of the VSM store, along with foil & imagery from the Party Games collection.

May your February be filled with sweetness!

January Pastels @ Vintage Street Market

Happy 2013 to all!

Keri here, sharing some pastel-inspired projects for January.  For me, this January I’m inspired by soft pastels, icy blues, pale pinks, not to mention the gorgeous Winter Garden kit now available in the VSM store…how lovely is that subtle palette?!  Love it.

For my layout, I highlighted the pastels from the Sewing Room collection, as well as Dimestore Vogue:

Lots of angles & layers on this one…soft & sweet & reminiscent to me of those baby days a decade ago, when this photo was taken.

Next up, a card made with one of my favorite images from the Family Fun paper collection:

I embossed the aqua foil, and made a quick scallop flower from the brown crepe…definitely two of my go-to favorite products that Vintage Street Market offers.

I hope the New Year is treating you kindly, and that you are inspired & motivated to create something new of your own this month!

Holiday Happiness…

The holidays are definitely a high point for me…watching my daughters soak in every detail of the festivities of the season…love it all!

Here is a layout of my mother’s gifts back in 1965…love how she so carefully set all her presents up outside to photograph. And love that I can see her “shadow” in the foreground as she captures the shot:

Using my ever-favorite polka-dot paper from the Family Fun collection, I added my own sequins, made from red foil and a couple of hole punches.  I added gorgeous tidbits, like this glitter-filled glassine envelope & pins, from the Sewing Room section of the VSM store.

My 2nd project for the month is a gingerbread-house card:

Using a Bingo Card, brown crepe, glitter, twirly twine, I whipped up this scrumptious holiday greeting.

I don’t know about you, but the holidays is definitely one of my favorite times to enjoy the nostalgic feeling of vintage ornaments and decor.  My kids and I love to discover “new” favorite items like this to add to our holiday home:

Wishing you a happy holiday and a delightful December!
