Vintage Patriotic Cone Centerpiece
Did you know that Flag Day was first “unofficially” introduced in 1885? Just as a special day to celebrate the US flag. School children would assemble with their flags and sing patriotic songs. Adults would attend public addresses. On August 3rd, 1949, President Truman “officially” signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day. So, Happy Flag Day to you!
With these patriotic holidays upon us, I crafted a vintagey patriotic cone. This will look cute on the picnic table. To begin, I formed a cone from a sheet of 12×12 cardstock, taped it together, then adhered vintage ephemera in a collage. Vintage patriotic seals add the color and “theme.”
A blue vintage reflector makes a great focal point at the base. Platinum Stickles add extra sparkle. The center of the reflector is a vintage starburst with a vintage mini silver ornament in the center of that. Silver foil pipe cleaners add a fireworks effect.
Red and ivory tissue festooning make this really festive! I glued a strand to the base, and also a bit at the top. Then, topped that with a little scrap of silver tinsel garland.
And a vintage patriotic paper plate makes a great base!
Here’s a list of the ingredients used:
Happy Creating!
Michelle
